An exciting opportunity has arisen for a New Zealand registered Dental Hygienist or Dental Oral Health Therapist to join our well-established team at Merivale Dental Group. You will be required to build on our existing patient relationships by helping look after their periodontal and oral hygiene needs, and to create relationships with patients new to the practice. Merivale Dental Group has been serving the local area for over 10 years and is a continually growing practice. We provide all aspects of general dentistry and strive to keep up to date with the latest techniques and advances. We aim to deliver excellence with patient focused care. You will be required to work as part of a clinical team with two dentists, one other experienced hygienist and a very talented and motivated support team. We have a friendly, relaxed, yet professional atmosphere that will make it easy for you to slot into the team and role. You may also be communicating and coordinating with our local specialists. Our standard appointment length for hygiene appointments is one hour and on busy days we have a sterilising assistant in the practice to help turn over the room. Our ideal applicant has the following qualities: Able to communicate clearly and professionally with patients. Able to maintain patient comfort during treatment and help allay patient anxiety. Actively promote and educate patients in home care and personal oral hygiene. Understands and supports dentists' treatment plans. Undertake both ultrasonic and hand scaling. Is punctual, well-presented and reliable. Strong computer proficiency and preferably good knowledge of Exact Dental. A caring and empathetic nature. Maintains a high standard of cross-infection control. Willing and able to maintain practice equipment and instruments. Is a present and active participant at team meetings and huddles. Is genuinely interested in continuing professional education. Has three plus years of experience, however we are willing and able to provide mentoring and development to a candidate who displays an enthusiasm, willingness, and ability to learn. For an OHT we are able to provide scheduled time with an assistant to undertake Dental Therapy work.
