BMS provides coverage for more than 500,000 healthcare and regulated professionals through 70+ associations across New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

With effect from 1 October 2018 you will automatically receive $10m professional indemnity cover, as well as:
- Broader coverage, including Retroactive Cover, and Legal Defence and Court Attendance costs including for Regulatory Inquiries;
- Access to free initial, confidential advice through a pro bono legal hotline if you receive a notification or have a claim or complaint made against you;
- Data-driven risk management material;
It’s important to note that your coverage is on a “claims made” basis, which means you must have coverage at the time a claim is made against you, regardless of when the “incident” took place. Therefore, you must maintain continuity of professional indemnity cover by renewing your policy annually to ensure you remain protected.
What happens if I already have coverage in place?
If you currently have a Professional Indemnity policy, please check the opt-out box at the end of your Membership application. When you receive your insurance policy expiry notice, you can access the member Insurance Policy by contacting either NZOHA or BMS Group.
